Issues/ CCW and its developmental affiliate, The Forge Wrestling School, Ltd., are planning three pro wrestling tryouts in the comming months. If you’ve ever thought about becoming a pro wrestler, but don’t want to shell out tuition costs, this is the way to go! CCW is going to pay full tuition to those who they believe have the talent to make it in pro wrestling, so your training is free! These tryouts are tentatively scheduled for Montego Bay, Kingston, and St. Catherine. Actual dates and locations have not been decided, but I understand they will be held in the late afternoon through evening, to give guys a chance to come after their day jobs. There is a helpful article in our first issue to help prepare for tryouts. |

CCW to Trade Tickets for Illegal GunsOn December 26, 2003 popular dancehall artist Desmond Balentine (a.k.a. Ninja Man) stunned both the police and thousands of concertgoers by surrendering an illegal firearm at Sting to the head of the police Crime Management Unit (CMU), Senior Superintendent Reneto Adams. Now CCW has approached government with an offer to give free admission to its own events, in exchange for public surrender of illegal firearms. Caribbean Championship Wrestling’s President Augustus “Augie” Lee recently announced the company made the proposal to officials on January 7th, and was inspired by Ninja Man’s public presentation. Letters were sent to both Minister of National Security and Justice Dr. Peter Phillips, and Commissioner of Police Francis Forbes outlining the proposal. The company’s idea is simple; people who turn in an illegal gun would receive a 90 day free pass for themselves and a guest, to all live pro wrestling events. Retail value of the pass will be $26,700.00. In the proposal, the company vowed to continue the program until 100 illegal guns were taken off Jamaican streets, making the company’s total commitment to $2,670,000.00. Lee said, “While we have not heard anything as yet, we are confident government is considering our offer. We wanted them to know businesses in Jamaica are prepared to work with law enforcement to create a positive atmosphere for a general gun amnesty."
