Issues/ CCW is definitely on track choosing this location. If you count all of St Catherine, and the surrounding parishes of Clarendon, Kingston, and St. Andrew, the employed segment of the population within close proximity of the arena is 562,300. To sell out two live events weekly, only nine one hundredths of one percent (0.09%) of these people need attend! I have obtained a copy of CCW’s business plan (no big deal – all I had to do is ask for it) and was shocked at the numbers! Combined gross revenues are expected to exceed 57.4 million dollars by the end of the first year, and 66.1 million dollars by the end of the second year! That’s 123.5 million dollars in two years, with over 18.4 million going to taxes alone! As the soon-to-be-city of Portmore moves ever closer to municipality status, CCW will be able to pay their tax burden locally, so a much larger portion of the money can be utilized right here. This is exciting news for the citizens of Portmore! |

Commentary: Keep fans out of the Power Ranking systemBy Tyrell Stephens Next week, the Rules Committee will set the Power Ranking system in stone, and I'm very happy. Why? Because the Power Ranking system virtually eliminates favouritism when booking championship pro wrestling matches. The system is largely based on win/loss records. Every match is an opportunity to rise or fall in the rankings, and may eventually lead toward a title shot. Here are the main criteria used in match evaluations, but keep in mind there are fourteen lesser factors as well. If a wrestler WINS any match Win/loss record If a wrestler LOSSES any match Win/loss record The Power Ranking system brings sport back into pro wrestling. With a string of solid wins, a wrestler can move up quickly. You won’t find a General Manager or Commissioner like Eric Bishoff or Stephanie MacMahon arbitrarily booking matches, reversing referee decisions, or interfering with a wrestler’s career. Fortunately for us, President “Augie” Lee would rather watch wrestling matches from his private box, surrounded by a half-dozen young models, than get involved. But sadly, Lee wants to allow even the most casual pro wrestling fan to muddy our waters, by allowing their participation in the ranking process via Power Ranking polls on this web site. For those who don't know; the idea is to post a poll asking the fans to vote for their favorites every week. This is clearly a bad move. Next week, I hope to persuade the Rules Committee to reverse Mr. Lee, and kill the idea of Power Ranking polls. I’m not saying fans are stupid, but it has to be said they are not the best choice to book matches. Fans may favour a pro wrestler purely on his good looks, his devotion to his terminally ill mother, or the parish he was born in. Why in the world should viewers, knowing little about our sport, dictate championship matches by interfering with our near-perfect Power Ranking system? I hope many of you agree. Let the Power Ranking system do its job. Our sport will be much better off.
