Issues/ The Forge Wrestling School remains tight-lipped over who will be evaluating and training talent. All I know is the Head Trainer is coming from the United States, and he has wrestled before in the WWF (now WWE). Hopefully, I can find out more before the next update. I have received many emails asking where the CCW Arena will be. After months of research, CCW decided to build their arena in Portmore, St Catherine. According to census figures, between 1991 and 2001, St. Catherine grew at an annual rate of 2.3%, nearly three times the rate observed for Jamaica as a whole. Overall growth for the period was an astonishing 25.6%, clearly showing many people work in Kingston, but they sleep in St Catherine. As a proud resident of Portmore myself, I have seen this growth first hand. |

CCW to Trade Tickets for Illegal Guns"The private sector has long been aware of its responsibilities to the country. They have supported charitable causes, social programs, and humanitarian efforts. The next logical step is to join a non-partisan campaign to help rid Jamaica of its biggest problem – violence.” Lee also said, “Government has not fully appreciated the value of sports and entertainment to the social climate of the country, as resources have been directed to higher priority issues.” He continued, “And, CCW will soon join the ranks of other businesses regularly subsidizing sports programs and cultural events, where the government cannot. But the issue of violence must confronted head on.” When asked if he thought Jamaica was on the right track confronting the issue of gun violence, Lee replied, “As a foreigner, it is not my place to comment on any government policies, period. But I will say, growing up in Washington D.C., I saw first hand how full amnesty works. As I understand, only conditional amnesty is in effect here. In other words, amnesty is given only if the firearm has not been used in the commission of a crime. If I have an illegal gun, and want to surrender it, but I’m not sure of its history before it came into my possession, would I risk turning it in? In D.C., the police took them all, no questions asked. The intention wasn’t to solve crimes, but to get guns off the streets. They didn’t care about a gun’s past, only its future.” Caribbean Championship Wrestling is Jamaica’s first pro wrestling promotion. The company will begin formal operations in August of 2003; producing live wrestling events in St. Catherine, Kingston, Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, and Mandeville on a regular basis. An affiliated training school opens in St Catherine in May of 2003. CCW POWER RANKINGS
