Issues/ Due to long standing prejudices among pro wrestlers, women have traditionally been unable to become Referees. Kudos go to CCW for giving women an opportunity to prove themselves as officials. There will be issues I'm sure, especially with many of my fellow Jamaicans, but I'm confident this will prove to be a shrewd move on Lee's part. On another subject; I want to write a little about this web site. After August, we will be very busy, so lets get things off to a good start, shall we? You will always find a poll on the front page. Vote often! It will improve the quality of the matches you see, and CCW in general. And I personally guarantee every comment left by a visitor after voting, will be read by someone in the CCW organization, regardless if I agree with the comment or not. At CCW, you have a say in what goes on in the ring. Exercise it. |

Want to be a pro wrestler? Start training now!By "Dr. Dave" Dost, pro trainer The Forge, Jamaica's only pro wrestling school, recently announced full tuition scholarships will be available for a limited number of students, courtesy of Caribbean Championship Wrestling. There will be tryout camps to find young men to train alongside other students, but they will not have to pay any tuition expenses. Think you can handle a career in pro wrestling? You can't. But CCW President Augie Lee has asked me to give you a few tips on how to prepare for these tryouts. A fancy-ass trainer is coming in from the States to evaluate the talent, but I can tell you what Augie Lee is looking for. Self-discipline, athleticism, and confidence. If you don't have these qualities now, you better find them. Naturally, well-muscled, charismatic guys have an edge. But there is a place for big, fat, ugly bastards as well. A strong command of the English language is a plus. That's what Lee is looking for. Now let me tell you what that fancy-ass trainer from the States is looking for. Power. You have two months to find it, and develop it. Studying pro wresting on television will not help you find it. Spend your time in the weight gym instead. Here is what you need to think about. 1. Pro wrestling contains ballistic movements. This would mean power is more important than just strength. Power is gained by moving light to moderate weight through a full range of motion very quickly. 2. Pro wrestling also demands muscular endurance, which is also acquired by using light to moderate weight and moving the weight through a full range of motion. To develop the endurance maximum repetitions are needed. CCW POWER RANKINGS
