I would like to voice my opinion on Mr. Tyrell Stephens’ commentary in our last issue. Of course, Mr. Stephens is entitled to his opinion, but I take exception to several points. First, let me say, it was mathematician Devlyn McCreight who created the CCW Power Ranking system, and not Tyrell Stephens. And it was Mr. McCreight who originated the idea that web polls be an integral part of the Power Ranking system. Both he and “Augie” Lee understand the importance of fan participation. Obviously, Stephens does not.

As it turns out, the Rules Committee has upheld the decision to include web polls in the Power Ranking system.

I also take exception to this rather off-handed remark by Mr. Stephens in the same commentary, ”Fortunately for us, President “Augie” Lee would rather watch wrestling matches from his private box, surrounded by a half-dozen young models, than get involved.”

Jamaica Broadcasting Commission May Force Change in TV Plans

Still, boxing and wrestling are automatically branded “L3” for violence. According to the Code, if a program has a “L3” in any one of the four criteria, it is branded as ”PG-14” (unsuitable for children under the age of 14) and must be shown after 10:00 P.M.

“As a Jamaica company, we will of course, comply with the Code.” Lee was with the CCW management team and several others at a recent dinner-meeting in New Kingston. During the meal, most watched the broadcast of the WWE’s “Smackdown” on television screens throughout the restaurant. “See this?” Lee asked those in attendance. “Nine o’clock at night. Why? Because its cable. The Code doesn’t affect cable operators, because according to the Commission, people pay for cable. Why should free to air television stations be treated differently? People pay for their damn televisions too. You elect to buy a TV, knowing full well you are getting a variety of programming, so you need to monitor your kids.”

“Maybe you (Lee) should re-think your position”, said Mr. Bobby Upright, a long-time friend of Lee’s visiting from Florida. “I mean; you are being penalized as if you had nude women on top of each other in the ring. Since you are being punished for it anyway.” Upright shrugged his shoulders as Lee began to laugh.

Lee said, “I see what you’re getting at. You want a ladder match with a nude girl suspended from the ceiling as the prize.”

Upright grinned, "If not that, maybe a topless announce team.”

CCW POWER RANKING REVEALED

Power ranking is the brainchild of mathematician Devlyn McCreight. It rates the relative standing of each wrestler within CCW, taking into account win/loss record, opponents win/loss record, belts held, titles defended, and other weighted factors. Only the top eight wrestlers have a shot at the most prestigious title, the CCW Caribbean championship. All ranked below eight compete for the CCW Television championship.

Title matches usually occur between the current champion and whichever wrestler is ranked just below him. If a wrestler wins or loses ANY match, it affects his power ranking. Tag team matches too. Each wrestler's power ranking can also be affected by fans voting for them in the CCW Power Ranking Poll every week! Fan votes combined with a wrestler's in-ring performance - the ultimate ranking system in pro wrestling today!
